How LønRadar Calculates Your Salary: Our Methodology Explained
Last updated:
You look up a salary on LønRadar and see a median salary for your role. But what is behind that number? Who contributed? How was it calculated? And can you trust it?
Those are fair questions. Salary statistics are only useful if you know what you are looking at. This guide explains exactly how LønRadar collects, verifies and calculates salary data.
Step 1: Data Collection
All data on LønRadar comes from employees in Denmark who voluntarily contribute their salary information. This happens in two ways:
Manual Submission
The user fills out a form with job title, base salary, employer pension, supplements, bonuses, region, experience level and industry.
Payslip Upload
The user uploads a payslip. We use AI to automatically extract relevant salary information, verify it manually, then delete the payslip. Payslip contributions are weighted higher in the statistics.
Step 2: Verification
All contributions go through a verification process. Payslip uploads are verified manually. Manual submissions go through automatic validation:
- • Sanity check: Rejects contributions with salary below 10,000 kr./md., above 600,000 kr./md., or pension above 50%.
- • Peer comparison: Compares with existing verified contributions for the same job title and experience level. Significant deviations are flagged and checked manually.
Only verified contributions are included in the public statistics.
Step 3: Calculation Method
| Percentile | What it means |
|---|---|
| 25th percentile | 75% of all contributors earn more. Represents the lower end of the salary range. |
| Median (50th percentile) | Half earn more, half earn less. We prefer the median because it is not affected by extreme values. Your primary reference point. |
| 75th percentile | Only 25% earn more. Represents the upper end - a realistic target for experienced professionals. |
Total salary: All figures include base salary and employer pension in kroner. This gives an accurate picture of your total compensation.
